Switchfoot in San Francisco
Two weeks ago Christen and I saw a Switchfoot show downtown San Francisco.
They have been my favourite band for years so I was excited when I heard they would be playing near us. Before the show we were lucky enough to be able to watch the sound check and even spend a [...]
Hello 2010!
Perhaps I’m a few days late with this post, but just wanted to wish everyone a super-awesome 2010! Jesse is at work right now, but he’s coming home early to watch the end of the World Juniors final. We both have our 2010 Olympic gear courtesy of Kait, Phil and Jonathan at Christmas. Go Canada!

Alive and wagging
Last week was one for the books – a close call for our dog and best bud Parker. On Wednesday, Parker threw up … and then did it again, and again all night. In the morning when I got up to feed her breakfast she walked up to her bowl full of food and then [...]
Visit with Ginny
Last weekend Ginny came to visit us in the bay area. Since we only have a 1 bedroom place, she stayed in a hotel right next door. It was great to have her so close by that we could giver her small taste of what our day-to-day is like in the south bay. She and [...]
LA Day 2 & 3 recap
Saturday at Venice Beach boardwalk was definitely our favourite place of our whole time in LA. We rented two cruisers and toured along the boardwalk in the sunshine, making stops to watch skaters at the skate park and an American Apparel outlet. That night we headed to the Griffith Observatory to see the view of [...]
In LA: Warner Brothers and Conan
Today we did the Warner Brothers studio tour. It was tough to choose between Universal, Sony and NBC, but our Lonely Planet guide to LA said the Warner Brothers one was the best so we went for it. The tour was about 2 hours long but most of the cool stuff we saw we couldn’t [...]
Point Reyes National Seashore
Jesse and I tested our hiking stamina 2 weeks ago at Point Reyes National Seashore.
Point Reyes is a beautiful peninsula-like area of protected land that is separated from the main land by the San Andreas Fault. It is just north of Muir Woods National park that we visited last year with Dan and Erica.
Our blog [...]
Kayaking with the Otters
A few weeks ago now we made our first trip to REI – basically the California version of Mountain Equipment Co-op – and got an unexpected to-do list of adventures in the Bay Area from one of the employees there. First up was the Elkhorn Slough – a little waterway off the Pacific Ocean near [...]
Saw a dog get hit… horrible
Witnessing a dog get hit by a car, is one of the worst things I’ve ever seen. It leaves me with extreme gratitude for the time I have right now with the ones I love so much.
Canada Day, eh?
Using “eh” in the title, was needlessly cliche, but if not today, then when? I can’t tell you how many Americans still get a kick out of hearing the way I pronounce “out”, “about” and “house”.
