Kayaking with the Otters
A few weeks ago now we made our first trip to REI – basically the California version of Mountain Equipment Co-op – and got an unexpected to-do list of adventures in the Bay Area from one of the employees there. First up was the Elkhorn Slough – a little waterway off the Pacific Ocean near [...]
Saw a dog get hit… horrible
Witnessing a dog get hit by a car, is one of the worst things I’ve ever seen. It leaves me with extreme gratitude for the time I have right now with the ones I love so much.
Canada Day, eh?
Using “eh” in the title, was needlessly cliche, but if not today, then when? I can’t tell you how many Americans still get a kick out of hearing the way I pronounce “out”, “about” and “house”.

Parker got ticked!
This morning as we lay in bed, I was petting Parker in my semi-awake state between sleep and consciousness when I felt something on her chest.
3 lessons learned from surgery in the USA
It’s a week since my wrist surgery, I still have my cast on but it comes off on Thursday. I made it through 1 day of vomiting from the anesthesia, 3 days of keeping it elevated above my heart and a week of left handed teeth brushing but who’s counting..?
Photos from our trip home
We spent 4 days driving 4600km from Ontario to California. We averaged about 8 hours of driving a day. We’ve uploaded the highlight reel… most of which is not great photography, shot through windows, but it was mostly too cold to get out of the car.
