Last weekend we drove to Pebble Beach and Carmel-by-the-Sea to do the “17 mile drive” along the gorgeous shoreline with stately homes and golf courses. Entry to the area cost $9.50 but it was definitely worth it for the spectacular views.

Everything about it was so beautiful and especially the golf courses. The US Open is at the Pebble Beach golf club this weekend so there were white media tents allover.

We expected it to be warm but it was so windy and cold! Thankfully I found my toque in the car!

Saturday night we were walking around the Mission Bay area after seeing a place and decided to buy some scalped tickets to the Giants (baseball) game – $10 each at AT&T Park. It is such a great stadium with open air seats and bleachers and a view of the bay. As expected, the game couldn’t hold our attention for more than 4 innings so we ditched at the 7th inning stretch, but it was definitely worth it.

Sunday night we took a 20 minute bus ride from our place to the other side of the city and a trail on the Pacific Ocean called Land’s End. We couldn’t help but be amazed at how lucky we were to be living in a city where we could hop on a city bus to enjoy a gorgeous view of the ocean and rocky cliffs.

We can’t wait to have some of you come and visit!

The rental car facility had no record of our 30 day reservation and had no available cars so we had to get a van from another rental car place on our own dime. After searching for a hotel or motel room for about 45 minutes (no vacancies anywhere – it’s tourist season) we headed down to Fisherman’s Wharf and found the least shady available parking space to spend the night in the van. Definitely a memorable first night in the city.

All is good now though – we’re settled in to our beautiful apartment (we hadn’t been given the super’s cell phone # to wake her last night for the key – see picture) and we will be getting the rental car situation figured out later tonight (apparently the onus was on me to have the car booked through Apple, in my interview trip a rental car had been booked for me by Apple).

Things are looking up!

Jesse and I wound up sleeping in our rental car with Parker down by Fisherman’s Wharf. It’s now 9:00am and we have not yet been let into our place although we just got a call back from the building manager. Jesse is over at the gate trying to figure it all out.

We are supposed to meet our Destination Service girl in about an hour. I’m not in the greatest of moods to go see the city and look at apartments. I kind of look (and probably smell) like a homeless person who’s been sleeping with a dog. I’ve shed a few tears for missing home and some for pure frustration. Missing you all.

Jesse here, writing my first post after sneaking the Mac away from that blog-hog Christen :)

This past week has been so busy and hectic and today has seemed to have lasted forever already but we are finally waiting for our final flight from Newark, NJ to San Francisco. I know that all of the stress and hard work will be worth it when we drive into San Francisco along the 101 freeway winding through the moutains into the city and we can finally walk along the hilly streets of our new home.

So that’s what I am thinking about… that, and for some reason I can’t get that incredibly annoying song from Tetris out of my head.
